At its January 28-30, 2021 meeting, the COA approved revisions to its Standards for Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs – Practice Doctorate and Accreditation Policies and Procedures manual. These revisions were made in response to recommendations from the Full Scope of Practice Competency Task Force, the COA’s Standards Revisions Subcommittee, and the COA’s Standards and Policies Committee. The approved revisions will be effective for all students matriculating into accredited nurse anesthesia programs on or after January 1, 2022.
As part of the programming for the upcoming Assembly of Didactic and Clinical Educators, the COA has prepared a COA Update in which revisions to the Standards and to the AACN Essentials are introduced and explained by Laura Bonanno, PhD, DNP, CRNA, COA President, Frank Gerbasi, PhD, CRNA, CEO and John McFadden, PhD, CRNA, Co-Chair AACN Essentials Task Force.
A PDF of the COA presentation as well as a summary of all revisions to the Standards and policies approved at the January 2021 COA meeting, are available for review.
