It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, Barbara Farkas, on Sunday April 14th. Barbara was an invaluable member of the COA team for over 20 years, demonstrating a deep commitment to nurse anesthesia education and the work of the Council. As a Senior Accreditation Specialist, Barbara provided unwavering support for and guidance to her assigned nurse anesthesia programs. She was a member of the COA Leadership Team and played a critical role serving as liaison to the COA’s Standards Revision Task Force, Evaluation and Analysis Committee, and Annual Report Subcommittee, as well as the AANA Education Department. Her expertise and dedication were evident to all who had the pleasure of working with her.
Outside of the COA, Barbara loved the theater, traveling, and was an avid Italian language student. Most of all, Barbara loved her dear nieces and nephews. Barbara’s life is an inspiration, and she will be deeply missed.
